May 10, 2009 (Baseball Musings delivered by Newstex ) -- The Seattle Mariners pitchers walked nine Minnesota Twins batters Sunday afternoon, but still walked away with a 5-3 win. This is more usual than I would have thought. Since 1957, there are 609 instances in a nine inning game of a pitching staff walking at least nine and getting a win, so it happens about 12 times a year. The Twins collected seven hits, but two doubles were their only extra-base hits. They just couldnt advance the walkers. Update: Teams have a .363 winning percentage in games in which they walk at least nine. Newstex ID: 34797424 Author:Fox Sports Author's Website:http://www.foxsports.com Added: May 11, 2009
