MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer has been activated from the disabled list after missing the first month of the season with a back injury.
Right-hander Juan Morillo was sent outright to Triple-A Rochester on Friday to make room on the roster.
Mauer went on the DL with an inflamed sacroiliac joint. He played five games at Class-A Fort Myers in a rehabilitation assignment. The Twins went 11-11 without Mauer, an All-Star and two-time AL batting champion.
Morillo made three appearances for the Twins after being claimed off waivers April 17 from the Colorado Rockies.
The Twins opened a three-game series at home against the Kansas City Royals on Friday.
