Minnesota Twins Notes, Quotes 2009-05-08
--LHP Glen Perkins allowed two home runs in the first three innings Thursday, just the second and third home runs he has allowed this year. Still, the Twins have been out-homered 35-19 this season, which accounts for a large part of their 34-run deficit.

--2B Matt Tolbert bunted for a single and popped another into the outfield, his first hits since being recalled from Class AAA Rochester. There may be a reason he's so comfortable right away. "We were in Louisville just before I got called up, and I went to the Louisville Slugger factory," Tolbert said. "I've got six new beauties, all ready to go."

--RHP Kevin Slowey allowed three runs in the first inning Wednesday, matching the three runs he gave up in his final inning in his previous start, raising his ERA to 5.50. Slowey also extended his streak to 18 2/3 innings without surrendering a walk.

--First base coach Jerry White was carried off the field after being struck by a Joe Crede foul ball Monday, and he was on crutches after the game. But X-rays found no break, and White was back at his post Tuesday.

BY THE NUMBERS: 2 -- Walks issued by RHP Kevin Slowey in his first five starts, a span of 31 1/3 innings that included 23 strikeouts.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "They found a Bud Light in there." -- C Mike Redmond, after having an MRI taken of his sore right shoulder.
