Minnesota Twins Notes, Quotes 2009-05-06
--First base coach Jerry White was carried off the field after being struck by a Joe Crede foul ball Monday, and he was on crutches after the game. But X-rays found no break, and White was back at his post Tuesday.

--RHP Nick Blackburn couldn't follow the lead of Francisco Liriano, who shut down Detroit's lineup one night earlier, and fell behind 6-0 after two innings. It wasn't Blackburn's pitching that bothered manager Ron Gardenhire, however, it was his lack of resilience. The Twins wanted Blackburn to last into the sixth inning, but he seemed to sag in the fourth, giving up back-to-back home runs. "You've got to be able to pitch through things, and we weren't able to do that," Gardenhire said.

--LHP Francisco Liriano went 0-4 in April, but that's nothing new. The left-hander is 1-7 during his career in April but 19-6 in the other months. Maybe he should just skip the season's first month. "I wish," he said with a smile.

BY THE NUMBERS: 2 -- Walks issued by RHP Kevin Slowey in his first five starts, a span of 31 1/3 innings that includes 23 strikeouts.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "They found a Bud Light in there." -- C Mike Redmond, after having an MRI taken of his sore right shoulder.
