--LHP Jose Mijares pitched a scoreless eighth inning and reminded manager Ron Gardenhire of why the Twins were so excited to have the lefty in the bullpen this season.

"He had to go down and work really hard," Gardenhire said. "He didn't have a good spring training. We love this kid's arm. We had big plans for him. That's what we like to see, him go out there, throw the ball like that. He attacked the strike zone and used the breaking ball. He can be huge for us."

--C Jose Morales went 2-for-4 on Friday and drove in a run, further proving to Gardenhire that he can play at the big league level.

"He's doing well," Gardenhire said. "He can hit. Jose can hit. We know that. The catching is something that he's learning and this is tough place to learn, but he's handling himself real well. He studies, he studies the teams."

--The Twins were held to four runs in Wednesday's day-night doubleheader against the Red Sox, and with Boston's sweep, they haven't won a game at Fenway Park since 2007.
