Minnesota Twins Notes, Quotes 2008-05-30
--LHP Craig Breslow was claimed off waivers from Cleveland, adding a second left-hander to the Twins bullpen. Breslow (0-0) had a 3.24 ERA in seven appearances with the Indians. "We've been looking for someone to give us some bullpen depth," general manager Bill Smith said.

--RHP Pat Neshek, out with a partial tear of his elbow ligament, was transferred to the 60-day disabled list in order to fit newcomer Craig Breslow on the 40-man roster.

--RHP Bobby Korecky, who went 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA in nine appearances for the Twins, was optioned to Class AAA Rochester to make room for newcomer Craig Breslow. Korecky also became the first pitcher ever to collect a hit in the Metrodome.

--2B Alexi Casilla's five-game RBI streak ended Thursday, but he made up for it with his glove. Casilla started a pair of double plays behind starter Kevin Slowey, including one in which his flip to shortstop Brendan Harris was so quick it foiled a hit-and-run. Casilla finished with three hits and raised his average to .325.

--3B Mike Lamb is one of the slower Twins, but he beat out a bunt Thursday. Lamb was trying to sacrifice Jason Kubel to third, but Luke Hochevar hesitated before throwing to first base, and Lamb just beat the throw.

--The Twins' 9-8 victory Wednesday marked the first time a team had rallied from a five-run deficit with two outs in the ninth inning since San Diego did it on Sept. 17, 2005. The Twins had not had such a big last-out rally since May 27, 1997, when they scored six two-out runs to overcome a 10-5 deficit against the Mariners.

BY THE NUMBERS: 1 -- Twins pitchers who have collected base hits in the Metrodome. Bobby Korecky became the first in the stadium's 27-year history when he singled in the 10th inning on May 19.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I told Joe, 'You put the fingers down and I'll throw it.' I've never shaken Joe off once." -- LHP Glen Perkins, on the pitch-calling ability of C Joe Mauer.
