Minnesota Twins Notes, Quotes 2008-04-30
--SS Adam Everett (right shoulder strain) spent time working in the infield, and though he's eligible to return from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said it's more likely Everett would be activated Friday after Thursday's off day. If Everett's shoulder feels good when he wakes up Wednesday morning, he will do more infield work before the day's noon game against the White Sox, and Gardenhire said he will likely make a decision then, adding that he likely would send a position player, probably INF Brian Buscher, down to make room for Everett on the 25-man roster.

--RHP Scott Baker will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and if the soreness in his groin is completely gone, the team will proceed as planned, with Baker's next start scheduled for Saturday. If the starter feels any discomfort in the groin at all, Gardenhire said, the team is likely to place Baker on the 15-day disabled list. Baker was optimistic, though, saying he believes the injury is minor and will in no way keep him from starting Saturday.

--CF Carlos Gomez returned to the starting lineup after missing Saturday's and Sunday's game with a calf injury he suffered Friday when he kicked himself while running to first base. Ron Gardenhire said Gomez was in the manager's office when the skipper arrived to the ballpark, just to make sure Gardenhire knew he was ready to play.

--LF Delmon Young is batting .273 this season but .370 in his last seven games. He went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases. He now has six stolen bases this season. In 162 games last season, Young had just 10 stolen bases.

--With a bout of poor starting pitching, Minnesota's bullpen was taxed during the team's last trip. But with an off day Monday, manager Ron Gardenhire said his entire relief corps -- which is now at eight men -- was ready to pitch.

BY THE NUMBERS: 12 -- Consecutive starts allowing three or fewer runs by RHP Scott Baker, a streak broken when Texas scored five runs against Baker on April 26.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't know how you explain it. I have no idea. And I really don't even want to think about how. I just like the fact that the ball seems to find holes when I face him." -- DH Craig Monroe, who collected three hits off Oakland RHP Joe Blanton on April 22, giving him a .714 career average (10-for-14) against Blanton.
