Minnesota Twins keep Philip Humber in organization, after all
BOSTON -- Relief pitcher Philip Humber, designated for assignment last week so the Minnesota Twins could make room on the roster for waiver claim Juan Morillo, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Class AAA Rochester, the Twins announced today.

Humber, a former New York Mets first-round draft pick who came to Minnesota as part of the Johan Santana trade, appeared in four games for the Twins this season and labored in the final two, when he allowed six runs and nine hits in 2 1/3 innings.

When Scott Baker recently came off the disabled list, the Twins chose to send left-hander Brian Duensing to Rochester, perhaps largely because Humber was out of contract options and needed to clear waivers to be sent to the minors. Ultimately, though, when Minnesota's bullpen labored, GM Bill Smith risked losing Humber to shore up his bullpen by grabbing Morillo off waivers from Colorado.
