But throughout the 14 games, the Twins watched leads evaporate and winnable games get away from them.
"We got what we deserved on this trip," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "If you don't execute, if you don't catch the ball, if you miss plays and you walk guys, you end up getting losses, and late in the ballgame that's what we did. We didn't execute enough to win."
The Twins are 31-40 on the road and 46-23 at home, and they were eager Thursday to get back to the Metrodome, where they begin a six-game homestand Friday night with a three-game series against Detroit.
Even after a blowout loss to Toronto, though, the Twins seemed positive after the game, confident that returning home will be what they need.
"We know we have the talent. We know it's there," said right-hander Kevin Slowey, who allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings Thursday and got the loss. "We have a month to make a difference."
BLUE JAYS 9, TWINS 0: The Twins mustered just four hits as Toronto starter Jesse Litsch threw a shutout to complete the Blue Jays' sweep in the three-game series.
