Air Supply.
The '80s song "All Out of Love" blasted through loudspeakers as Crede dug in, a little revenge for Crede's own prank last summer. With Anderson, the White Sox reserve outfielder, mired in a slump, Crede called the game-operations booth and had Anderson's at-bat music changed to a Lionel Richie ballad. "His face was beet-red, he was so mad," Crede laughed at the prank.
But Crede won this battle, too. After laughing at the music, Crede ran the count to 2-0 from Jose Contreras -- then bashed a pitch into the Sox's bullpen, his first home run as a Twin.
"I'm sure B.A. (Anderson) and (Paul) Konerko were behind it," Crede said. "It was funny. They were trying to throw off my focus a little bit."
Guess it didn't work. Now Crede has plans of his own for when the White Sox visit Minneapolis in July.
"I've got some good stuff for them," Crede warned with a smile.
TWINS 12, WHITE SOX 5: Joe Crede homered in his first at-bat in his old ballpark, R.A. Dickey won his first start as a Twin, and Minnesota piled up almost as many runs in one game as it managed in its first four. The Twins, playing at U.S. Cellular Field for the first time since losing a 1-0 tie-breaker for the A.L. Central title last September, battered Chicago pitching for 15 hits. Nine consecutive Minnesota hitters reached base safely in the seventh inning, the Twins' longest streak since Sept. 15, 2003.
