"I can feel (the injury), but I have it taped up pretty good, so that helps a lot," Redmond said after taking batting practice and running the bases before Tuesday's game against Seattle. "I feel like I could catch, hit and that stuff if I had to, or within the next two days. Running is going to be dicey, but the good thing is I'm not fast to begin with. Speed really has never been part of my game, but I'm going to give it a go."

On Tuesday, catcher Jose Morales started in Redmond's place, and manager Ron Gardenhire said in an emergency his backup catcher still would be Redmond.

"We'll carry him out there and put him there and then we'll have to carry him back in. We'll send someone out there to pick him up and bring him back in," Gardenhire joked. "He can move around enough to catch, but this is an iffy situation with the catching. We need to know, and he says he's feeling all right, but he's going to have to show us he's better by (Wednesday) or we're going to have to do something. Right now he's OK, and that's barely OK."

If Redmond, who did catch in the bullpen during Tuesday's game, can't show that he's game-ready soon, though, Gardenhire said the Twins might need to make a roster move.
